Brand Licensing Europe 2026: Why IP, Partnerships and Promotions Matter More Than Ever
27 Oct 2026
Sally-Anne Cuthbertson visited Brand Licensing Europe 2026 this week to explore the latest opportunities in licensing, partnerships and promotions.
From Pokémon, Harry Potter, Scooby-Doo, Care Bears, Bluey and UEFA to major new entertainment launches, the show brought together some of the world’s most recognisable properties and showed just how far licensing can stretch beyond traditional merchandise.

One of the standout announcements was Minecraft World coming to Chessington World of Adventures Resort in 2027, complete with a dedicated Minecraft hotel.
For brands and agencies, launches like this open up a huge range of promotional possibilities. From money-off and free-ticket offers to instant wins, exclusive preview access, first-ride experiences, opening-weekend stays and retailer-linked rewards, licensed IP can create money-can’t-buy experiences and add value to the pack without relying on discounting.
That is one of the big advantages of the right partnership: the reward can feel highly desirable and distinctive while helping protect price and brand value.
Where claims or redemptions are unpredictable, VCG can also manage that risk within a Fixed Fee, helping brands offer a stronger headline while keeping the promotional budget protected.
A mechanic such as ‘Win it before you can ride it’ is a good example of how promotional thinking can build excitement around a launch and give consumers a strong reason to engage.
More than a logo on pack
The strongest licensing partnerships do much more than simply add a recognisable character or logo to packaging.
Done well, IP can help brands:
- Create more desirable prizes and rewards
- Build stronger seasonal or event-led promotional platforms
- Drive retail visibility and shopper engagement
- Connect with established fan communities in a relevant way
The key is making sure the partnership feels natural for the brand and the audience.
