Online & SMS

Our involvement in online promotions is growing at a phenomenal rate. We can take care of the secure delivery, management and administration of promotional microsites and, if required, provide a complete creative treatment for each site. All of these services are included within the VCG Fixed Fee.

Our SMS service is included in our Fixed Fee and covers all types of text activity - from textbacks to premium rate messaging.

We manage the complete set-up and ongoing handling of text services. We can also supply short codes and data files of Unique Reference Numbers.



Our banking services include the provision of branded letter cheques. These are used, for example, to pay consumers who are entitled to a refund as part of a guarantee promotion, or who claim back the purchase price and postage costs in a 'Try Me Free' offer.

As part of our tailor-made approach to risk management, we usually recommend and manage a package of services and carefully chosen service providers. Clients can either use the partners we recommend, or they can opt for their own suppliers.



We handle the provision of secure barcodes for coupon promotions. We also have accounts with all the major coupon clearance houses, such as Valassis and RMI.


Data Capture

As part of our integrated risk management service, we automatically capture all consumer information from applications. This data is provided direct to the client and we do not retain or use it in any way ourselves. This is clearly stated in our contract with each client.



We provide a full handling and fulfilment service in association with leading handling houses in the UK, Ireland and across Europe. Because of our many years of experience, we know which handling specialists are best for particular types of promotions at the best rates.

New and faster technologies are making the handling process much more efficient, including the ability to track individual consumer applications. We take full advantage of the latest technology to help reduce costs and save you money.

Case Studies

Instant Win Promotions

Consumers purchased any KFC Quarter Pack 2 piece, 3 piece or Deluxe to receive an instant win scratch card.

Consumers had the chance to instantly win Pepsi prizes redeemable at point of purchase (one of 5,000 1.5L Pepsi Bottles or one of 5,000 large Pepsi post mix drinks).

Consumers also had the chance to instantly win cash prizes:
• 1 chance to win $10k
• 5 chances to win $1k
• 65 chances to win $100
• 125 chances to win $50
• 1,000 chances to win $10
Consumers who won an instant cash prize were prompted to call the consumer helpline number and then mail in their original scratch card for validation. Cash prizes were then fulfilled via bank cheque.

VCG covered 100% of the cost of the Pepsi instant win prizes, instant win cash prizes, customer service queries, handling and fulfillment.

VCG allowed KFC to amplify their cash prize pool to $50,000 for a fixed fee for around a third of the total liability.

Product Giveaways

Consumers are invited to redeem a free product coupon, often printed in newspapers or magazines, to claim a particular product from stores at no cost. These can be communicated simply as a free product giveaway, or tied into a campaign theme. But either way they are a great way to drive trial. Fosters used this mechanic to 'Shout the Nation' a free VB if the Aussies won the Ashes. The offer was communicated via PR in daily newspapers in the lead up to the end of the tournament. The coupon was printed in papers nationwide on a fixed day, and could be redeemed for a free VB stubbie at Liquorland stores. Whilst initially communicated as a celebration for winning, it was agreed the coupon would run anyway and communication reverted to a commiserations message. This was a simple but very effective way to generate brand awareness and trial and activate VB's sponsorship of the Ashes. It won a bronze APMA for best sponsorship/tie-in promotion.

Gift with Purchase

L’OR had previously run this promotion as a 'while stocks last' with all 3,000 units of set of Bodum Pavina 250mL handmade coffee glasses (valued at $25) being claimed in exactly 14 days.

By using Fixed Fee, L’OR were able to re-run this promotion as an open ended offer.

To make a claim, consumers needed to:
1. Purchase four packs of L'OR Espresso Capsules, in a single transaction
2. Visit the promotional website, answer provide an answer six survey questions
3. Print off the completed claim form, attach with a copy of the purchase receipt and mail in to claim

VCG covered 100% of the cost of claims for the Bodum glasses, handling and fulfillment.

Cash Back Promotions

Leading Australian beauty brand ModelCo launched a national $2 million instant win promotion exclusive to Woolworths. Every entrant was an instant winner. ModelCo customers were rewarded with a chance to win a range of $50 cash cards, ModelCo products and gift vouchers.

ModelCo increased the prize pool further with a $100,000 envelope pick.

To enter consumers purchased one ModelCo product and entered their receipt number online.

An instant win promotion is a first in the beauty category in Australia so the entry mechanic had to be simple for consumers.

VCG used fixed fee to significantly amplify the instant win prize pool to allow ModelCo to make the ‘$2 million prize pool’ statement for a fraction of the cost.

Factorial Promotions

The 2014 FIFA World Cup was the most viewed sporting event in history.

Over a billion people were expected to tune in to the Final on 13th (14th) July and although NZ weren't competing this time around, NZ residents had a shot at winning NZ$5million. The unprecedented prize was offered by TAB NZ to anyone who could predict the wins, losses and draws throughout the four week tournament. It was free to enter and entrants only got one shot!

VCG provided insurance to TAB which covers the major prize and includes a pre-agreed number of entries. This type of insurance is called a ŒFactorial' or ŒMulti' as uses probability to determine the cost of the insurance policy. From a strategic perspective, the idea is to drive people to get on the site, engage with the brand and have a go.

Cash Back Promotions

Launching into a highly competitive fake tan market in Australia, Reef Beach Glow Instant Tan offers consumers a new sweet-smelling tanning range.

To coincide with the launch, Reef executed a Coles account exclusive promotion to offer consumers a $10 Cash Back via mail in redemption.

To make a claim, consumers needed to:
1. Purchase any participating Reef Beach Glow Instant Tan bottle during the promotional period
2. Visit the promotional website and download and print the online claim form
3. Remove the original sticker from the Reef Beach Glow Instant Tan bottle and attach it to the completed claim form and mail in with their purchase receipt

Gift with Purchase

Consumers purchased any three Hardys Wine products in a single transaction with at least one of the three products being specially marked (i.e containing a promotional coupon). Consumers claimed via mail using the claim form on the reverse of the promotional neck tag and were required to include their purchase receipt. Consumers were then mailed a free Curtis Stone Cook Book.

Constellation Wines approached VCG wanting to run a promotion on Hardys, offering consumers a free Curtis Stone Cook Book via mail in redemption. Constellation had the challenge of not being able to print on pack or guarantee POS such as neck tags would appear in all stores so there was no opportunity to use unique codes.

VCG developed a solution using a combination of one neck tag plus purchase receipts to validate consumer claims, in order to make the activity possible within a fixed and manageable budget. VCG covered the cost of the Curtis Stone cook book, postage and handling for 100% of claims which was a significant liability.

This went on to be Constellation Wines most successful promotion to date.

Richard Vernon




Our numbers man! Richard did his five years accountancy sentence at Pricewaterhouse Coopers before qualifying as ACA in 1997. He then Òfound himselfÓ in the Fixed Fee industry quickly accelerating to Finance Director before becoming a founder partner of VCG in 2004. Still harbours some loyalty to Southampton FC after spending several years on the South cost at university, now a busy father of two young girls.
